Get Involved with Community Trail Coalition!
As part of our ongoing commitment to keeping you informed, the Community Trail Coalition (CTC) Committee, sponsored by the Pelham Council on Aging, is delighted to share our monthly progress update and highlight opportunities for you to get involved as volunteers. We are still in the early stages of our journey, but our third meeting set the tone for our mission and goals.
Mission Statement: The Community Trail Coalition is dedicated to ensuring the accessibility and safety of Pelham\’s trail network. Our mission involves eliminating hazards, providing clear signage, and maintaining a welcoming environment for all community members. Community involvement is crucial, and our goal is to develop tailored programs encouraging people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the natural beauty of Pelham through easy walking trails. Our tagline, “Trailblazing Together: Building and Sustaining Inclusive Paths for All,” sums up our mission.
January 2024 Monthly Update / Progress to Date: In our January meeting, the Community Trail Coalition Committee established a trail ranking system to guide trail users on what to expect along the way. Our first trail under review is the Wolven Conservation Area, a 23-acre haven on Currier Road. We\’ll be assessing the trail, addressing maintenance needs, and seeking approval from the Forestry Committee for improvements.
We\’re also excited to announce our first trail event scheduled for April! We\’re currently looking for a volunteer event manager. If you know someone who may be interested, please contact me at ylg52@comcast.net or 508.397.0383. You can also check us out at our newly developed website at PelhamCTC.org.
Our membership has grown to 73 persons, and we aim to reach 100+ members by January 31st.
Thank You. Together, we can make Pelham\’s trail network more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
