In 2021, the Council on Aging (COA) enlisted the Nashua Regional Planning Commission to assess the needs of our older population. These findings have shaped the COA’s future goals. Inspired by the challenges posed by the COVID pandemic, the COA devised a three-phase plan to enhance safe outdoor spaces for older adults. In phase one, we successfully raised $85,000 to construct a Shade Pavilion on the grounds of the Community Center; Phase two introduced the Pickleball courts, for which we raised $144,083, providing an avenue for intergenerational engagement and community involvement. The third phase saw the transformation of unused space into the Celebration Park, featuring trees, ornamental shrubs, perennial gardens, accessible pathways, benches and birdhouses. Through the sale of trees, shrubs, benches, along with various fund raising activities, we have raised $71,229,completely funding park. This remarkable achievement stands as testament to our united community achievement. It is essential to note that not a single tax dollar has been utilized in creating this beautiful addition to our town. I am humbled by the generosity that has brought this park to life and I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. Thank you for being part of our journey and for helping us realize this vision.
